| Authors: | Solli, Hilde Reierson, Inger Åse |
| Issue Date: | 2006 |
| Abstract: | The purpose of this study was to evaluate if nursing students could learn certain practical skill
and practice them in a professionally acceptable manner after self directed learning by means
of an electronic procedural tool. The procedure selected was: Bed-making form side to side -
with patient in bed
The study had a survey design. Data was collected though non-participatory
observation of students in their first training session with this particular procedure, and a
semi-structured questionnaire to the students after the training session..
Results showed that self directed learning by means of an electronic learning tool can
replace demonstrations in the lab for this particular practical skill. A supervisor should be
present during the training sessions. More studies are needed where also more complex
procedures are included. |
