| Abstract: | SUMMARY: Center for Care research south-Norway and the Development Center for nursing homes and home care,
Vestfold have in fellowship conducted an evaluation of a competence program in palliative treatment and
care. The evaluation has assessed whether the participants themselves have experienced a clinical benefit
of the competence program and whether it has contributed to encourage greater interaction between the
municipalities. The competence program’s primary goal was to help health care professionals:
develop skills to cope with treatment and care in meeting with people and their families in the
terminal stage
The competence program was conducted in 2010 in Vestfold and was evaluated after each lecture with a
simple questionnaire. More than half of the 300 participants rated the program as «very good» or «good».
The Development Centre wanted an even more thorough evaluation of the participant’s experienced clinical
usefulness of the program. One year after participation, 300 health care professionals in 13 municipalities
in Vestfold were asked to consider the benefits in terms of enhanced knowledge and skills in palliative
treatment and care. 51% of the respondents provided feedback through a questionnaire. The evaluation
shows that the participants feel that knowledge has a clinical benefit.

Center
The respondents participated in a large degree together with colleagues in the competence program, but
only 24% said that they got to know other participants or have strengthen their networks after the competence
program. Only 8% said that they make more contact with other municipalities after participating in
the program, and 17% currently use the content of the competence program actively in internal training.
The Development Centre will be the driving force of developing competence and networking. The competence
program appears to have contributed to the strengthening of competence in palliative treatment and
care among the participants. The results of the evaluation indicate that ongoing network activities organized
by the Development Center are an important and necessary supplement to the competence upgrading.
With this background, the Development Center will continue to be the driving force in increasing
the competence in palliative treatment across municipalities, and professional networks which promote
exchange of experience and reflection.
SAMMENDRAG: Senter for omsorgsforskning Sør og Utviklingssenter for sykehjem og hjemmetjenester, Vestfold har i
fellesskap gjennomført en evaluering av et kompetanseprogram innen lindrende behandling og omsorg.
Evalueringen har kartlagt hvorvidt deltakerne selv har opplevd å ha en klinisk nytteverdi av kompetanseprogrammet
og om det har bidratt til å stimulere til økt samhandling mellom kommunene. Kompetanseprogrammets
hovedmål var å bidra til at helsepersonell:
utvikler kompetanse til å mestre behandling og omsorg i møte med mennesker og deres pårørende
i livets sluttfase
Kompetanseprogrammet som ble gjennomført i 2010 i Vestfold ble evaluert etter hver forelesning med
enkelt spørreskjema. Over halvparten av de 300 deltakerne vurderte programmet som «svært bra» eller
«bra». Utviklingssenteret ønsket en grundigere evaluering av deltakernes opplevde kliniske nytteverdi av
programmet. Ett år etter deltakelse ble 300 helsepersonell i 13 kommuner i Vestfold bedt om å vurdere
opplevd nytteverdi i forhold til styrket kompetanse og ferdigheter innen lindrende behandling og omsorg.
51 % av respondentene ga tilbakemeldinger via spørreskjema. Evalueringen viser at deltakerne opplever at
kunnskapen har en klinisk nytteverdi og
88 % oppgir at de har økt forståelse av hva lindrende behandling til alvorlig syke og døende
innebærer
85 % sier de har økt sine kunnskaper i lindrende behandling og omsorg
82 % oppgir at de har lært noe nytt som endrer praksis
73 % sier de har fått økt handlingskompetanse
98 % av respondentene svarer at de vil delta på nye aktiviteter i regi av Utviklingssenteret
Respondentene deltok i stor grad på kompetanseprogrammet sammen med kollegaer, men kun 24 % oppgir
at de ble kjent med andre deltakere eller har styrket deres nettverk i etterkant av kompetanseprogrammet.
Kun 8 % oppgir at de tar mer kontakt med andre kommuner etter deltakelse i programmet, og 17 %
bruker i dag innholdet i kompetanseprogrammet aktivt i intern opplæring.
Utviklingssenteret skal være pådrivere for kompetanseutvikling og nettverksarbeid. Kompetanseprogrammet
ser ut til å ha bidratt til å styrke kompetansen innen lindrende behandling og omsorg blant deltakerne.
Resultatene av evalueringen indikerer at pågående nettverksarbeid i regi av Utviklingssenteret er et viktig
og nødvendig supplement til de kompetansehevende tiltak. Med dette som bakgrunn vil Utviklingssenteret
fortsette å være pådriver for kompetanseløft innen lindring på tvers av kommuner, og faglige nettverk
som fremmer erfaringsutveksling og refleksjon. |
